Unit 5: What learned (second part)

Also I learned, that technology have been changing, and while time keeps going technology does too, and we can see that because now technology is at the top of everything, music, cars, phones, style, people, everything changes, and this day will be history in the future.
From the guitars above we can conclude that technology also was applied to musical Instruments.
and I learned that History is not that bad.

Unit 5: What I learned

Well, during the last two semesters I learned a lot of things in Mrs. Lawson WH2 class, for example, I learned whey the countries have different amounts of resources, and I learned why some countries developed better than others, and I learned that the Industrial Revolution was the big jump to the new technology. Now I can do research faster and better essays that i didn't in august. And can understand more English :)

I learned that I can learn things if I want to, I struggled a little on the subject about Urbanization and Industrialization, but i get it now.

Also I learned, that Music was and still the best things of the time.

Unit 4: Nationalism (Reflect & Re-invent)

Well, I had an idea of what nationalism was, so i think the same, i think that nationalism is the proud of the country, but in my opinion is proud, honor and respect for one's country but also to other's country, because like I'm an immigrant, nationalism is not a big deal, but of curse i get mad when people talk about my country, I see nationalism as a family member, because, family is something to feel proud of, but also we respect our family and other's family, so that's my opinion on nationalism.

If nationalism could be reinvented, i think is would be more useful if they could define Nationalism as a peaceful union of all the countries, in that way wars could not exist or borders, and everyone would help each other. For example, Music, is something that unite people, doesn't matter the gender, religion, race, color, sex preference, etc, music unite people, so if Nationalism could be reinvented it would be good to defined as music.

Unit 4: Nationalism (Review)

Our Group Choose the story of the revolt against the czar, in Russia. The revolt happened because the, the serfs wanted to be free, Under Alexander I, the serfs were close to be free because Alexander I wanted to spread liberal ideas, but when he died, and the new czar took the throne, he banned many books that may spread ideas of liberalism, when he died, and Alexander II inherited the throne, he didn't wanted to free the serfs, but liberals wanted change, and students also wanted the freedom of the serfs, soon Alexander II was pressed from all sides and finally he issued a decree that free the serfs. But in our poppet show, the serfs killed the czar,

and that didn't happened in the real story. I think that my group needed a lot of more information, but unfortunately, i didn't help at all, i helped during the construction of the puppets but not at the show. :(

The same history of repression happened with Hungary when the fight for a self government. In 1867 Francis Deak created a new political agreement, and in that agreement Hungary and Austria were separate states, both states had their own constitution and their own parliament, but they shared ministries of finance, defense, and foreign affairs. And after a while a nationalist leader called the slaves to unite and fight for their rights, and by 1900s, nationalist oppressed the government. until they solved the political problems.

Unit 4: Nationalism (Recap)

I think that soccer can be a good example of Nationalism :D

Nationalism was the feeling of pride that people had for their country, this emerged in Germany because the Germans wanted the french to get out of their country, this happened because Napoleon began to make changes around the border of German land, but nationalism was a big problem, because people were so proud of their country, "everything that their country had was the best, and was awesome" those were their thoughts, so, in that way it was hard to have a peaceful union of the countries, and this feeling of pride passed the "high level," they started to use violence, if a person talked about their country, and many violence and fights made the countries to have wars.

Unit 3: Urbanization & Industrialization (Revisit and Reflect)

Well, because I'm kind "out of my mind," I would choose San Fermin, Spain (Pamplona) because I like extremeness, San Fermin would be a good place for me to live, also because I love to run, so, in San Fermin I would run away from the bulls, this crazy festival of Bull Running started at the beginning of the 13th century on October 10th, they used to do dances, music and bull fights, and in the early 14th century they moved to July 7th, they had mixed dates each year, and in 1591 they established the official day that would be on July 7th, People launch a rocket, and when they do it is the signal to open the doors for the bulls, which means every runner has to run "for their lives," but is fun anyway.

The bad thing about this party is that, a lot of people get injured by the bulls, and sometimes they die. that's the only negative thing.

Unit 3: Urbanization & Industrialization (Recap)

In this section, I learned that Industrialization was the biggest change around the world, because everything that people use to do with their hands they began to do it with machines, this led to a lot of positive things in history, for example, with steel and coal, people start to build machines, and with the help of domesticated animals, they begun to farm their lands faster, but the main theme was that industrialization, end an era of just farming and living in towns, industrialization made big cities, giving a lot of jobs for people, in big factories.

But everything has negative impacts, industrialization had them too, for example in the big factories, people worked almost the entire day, and little children were working too, but the worse thing was that people get injured, and sometimes some parts of their body were cut off, and for their bad luck, the hospitals were the worse place to go to get medical attention, because when the doctors use to do their jobs in dark rooms, with the same instruments that they used with other patients, and later on people that were operated by doctors, later die from infections.

And because of that, and because the workers start to get paid a little money, and because the government was bad, people passed to the next era, the era of the second Industrial Revolution.

In the Second Idustrial Revolution, people invented more things, that made life much easier, for living and for military use, for example Alexander Graham Bell, invented the telephone in the late 1900's, with the telephone people that live far from each other, could talk now, with the invention of the ariplane, the military used to atack from the air, the automobile was invented too, and with this invention could travel from one place to another, steel was another great source, because people stated to build cities bigger and bigger, for example, with steel people started to build bridges to join to places that were divided by a big hole or a river.

Electricity was invented too, with this source, people lived better, because they could use it at night, to illuminate the cities, in that way, criminal life would end. Inventors also created chemicals to, change igiene on people, for example they crated the soap, and perfumes. While factories got bigger, technology too, so, people created interchangeable parts, in order to repair machines, and to simplified both assembly and repair. From those days to this days, technology had incrase, getting better each year, and it will countinue for ever.

Unit 2: Germs, Guns, and Steel (Reflect)

Well, I think that the "geographic luck" was something unfair because, every country get an unequal amount of natural resources, also each country get a different kinds of animals and plants, and some plants didn't grow to give food to people, because each country get a different species of animals, some of the countries were able to domesticate them and use them for the hard labor, and in other places people didn't domesticated animals because they were big and wild such as elephants, zebras, giraffes, etc... due to that inequality some countries developed new technology faster than others, for example, Europe, this continent developed faster than any other country of the world, because they, domesticated animals for a long, long time, so the farmers there have more time to do something else, but when they found the steel, they begun to conquer the world, in America, Europeans conquered the place so fast because of steel, and disease, disease was the main key to conquer the Americas, because the native Americans, didn'd had any deffence against germs, they got sick, and almost all the population died due to germs.

Unit 2: Guns, Germs, and Steel (revisit)

Somalia, is one of the poorest countries of Africa and poverty in this country was due for many factors, one of the factors was that they had a bad Government, and because they have little food they lead the little children to have a malnutrition, this is getting worse, because people are dying because of hunger, but that's not all, some studies revel that 45 women die every day, and their babies too.

The poverty in Somalia began on 1960s, this was when the country became independent, when the British and the Italian left the country, the government was left too, and now many societies such as UNESCO, are helping Somalia to restore a government that may help Somalia to get out of poverty, but they say that, it will take a long, long time to have success.

And things get worse for little children because sometimes they have to support their families, and if they have a bad luck they have to live in the streets with their family. and the mom has to work, all members of the family work hard, and they said that in a good day they win 18,000 shillings, that's tantamount 50 cents

Unit 2 Guns, Germs, and Steel.

Well, I think that the subject on Germs, Guns, and Steel, was one of the most important subjects in this semester, because I learned, why all the countries have different sources that other countries don't have, I also learned why the people from Europe conquered almost the whole world because they had better technology that the native Americans, and Indians, and people form Africa didn't had at that time, It was Steel, through steel Europeans designed and create, swords which they use to conquer the Americas, because the People from America spend their time, on raising animals and making a better place to grow food, steel was something out of this world for them, so they didn't know how to defend their selves.

But the most important factor that helped the Europeans to conquer the Americas and other parts of the world, was the geography that each country had an unequal distribution of resources, (so the Europeans had Steel as a natural resource), and because it was a big difference between Africa and America, Americans domesticated animals to do the hard job,and Africans did all the hard job with their own hands, this led the Europeans made America more advanced than Africa.
Geography was a big factor because, like around the earth there is a big difference in temperatures due to the altitude of the land, many countries didn't develop because of that, meaning that that's why it was a big difference in Africa and America, because in America people grow tons of food, and in some places in Africa people didn't grow much amount of food, so the difference in geography was the factor that many countries didn't developed equally.

Unit 1: Afghanistan (Reflect)

Well, I think that the Taliban didn't wanted to educate girls, because they knew that if the girls were educated, and they would be, free to deside what they wanted, and deside how to dress, and what to say and what to think, they will be able to revel against the Taliban.

But unfurtunatelly the girls were no able to have education, and Afghanistan didn't develop a good government, I tink that with the help of USAID and the Ministry of Higher Education, Afghanistan will develop a better government but in order to do that, the Taliban have to be completely kicked out.

In my pinion the Taliban are not very smart, because they already know that if Afghanistan is under their rule, they will not develop a good democracy, so is waste of time for them, not because of that but because many people are dying for the cause of the war.

Unit 1: Afghanistan (Revisit)

After, the Taliban were kicked out by the US army, the Taliban get upset, and they since 2001, they had try to shut down schools, unfortunately many of their tries were successful and they burned schools, and even they hurt the girls, by throwing them acid, and even killing them, is like a war Education vs guns.

But things get worse everyday, because the war between the Taliban and the US, because accidents happen and many of the children had been killed during school hours, the president Hamid Karzi declared that more than 1000,000 children didn't attend school, because the structures were destroyed.

If education would be given to girls during the Taliban era, they would be free to decide how to dress, how to behave, what to say and what to think, and that could let Afghanistan have a better future.
(look for Nicholas D. Kirstof)

Unit 1: Afghanistan (Recap)

Well, what I learned about Afghanistan and its education was that during the Taliban, a few people over 15 knew how to read and write, but most of them were males, the Taliban only give education to boys, but they only teach the kids about religion, with the taliban 900,000 boys were educated, but as I said before just about religion, for more than 15 years the Taliban dindn't improve the Afthan education, but in 2002 the US army make a war against the Taliban, and a program named USAID together with the Ministry of Higher Education, build schools, for the children of afghanistan, in difference with the Taliban the USAID program prepared around 10,000 teachers, and more than 5,000,000 children attend school, also the program printed millions of text books for their schools. around 50-60 million of text books.
Now in Afghanistan, girsl can have education, and they are receving science classes, lnguage, mathematics, geographyt and other basics of education, but like the boys only receive religion classes during the Taliban, many of them are not in their apropitatel level in school, the USAID support around 50,000 students each year.
